Kyle Behind the Sambro Fish Fence Kyle Jackson Exhibitions
Painter, sculptor, art instructor or perhaps we should just say, as he likes to, "Creative Engineer". Born in Toronto in 1960 to a very special couple – a chemical engineer and a textile artist – Kyle grew up with three crazy siblings, in a variety of culturally rich communities. The Jackson family lived in San Francisco, in the heyday of the late 60s, and later The Hague, in the Netherlands, where Kyle, received his first formal art training, along with his mother, at the then numinous Vrije Academie (International Art Lab).

Kyle’s keen interest in art solidified when he met Andy Warhol at the Art Gallery of Ontario in 1974.

A decade later, Kyle came to Nova Scotia in to attend NSCAD. He's been an active member of the vibrant Halifax art scene ever since; as artist, patron and a youth educator. Kyle and Tom Roussell (1951-2009) opened and operated (the much missed) Soho Kitchen together for 18 years at the original location on Granville Street – a unique hub for the arts, business and politics plus – in its time. Before 1988 he was magnetically attracted to the group that eventually founded the Nova Scotia Folk Art Festival. In 2013, Kyle is featured artist at the 25th festival and one of three surviving members of the festival founding group.

Truly, Kyle's creative engineering is apparent in the vast scope of his work. This website, with over 140 pages, features a small fraction of his total output over the years. Jump into Kyle's blog or facebook pages to visit with the engineer at work. The inventor of the Love Horn will always have something new on the go.

Kyle welcomes inquiries to purchase or commission works. He is available for teaching assignments, indoor or outdoor painting workshops for all ages. He also is found frequently at fund raisers.
